Ewen Dobbie

CEO & President, Dowco Group (Dawn Construction)

Mr. Dobbie began his career with Dowco Consultants Ltd. shortly after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in 1990. Since that time, he has managed the Company’s Construction Technology Software Division, and has also led the global 3D modeling detailing and BIM services operations. He draws heavily on a diverse background and hands-on experience in positioning the Dowco Group as the leading global provider of comprehensive, end-to-end pre-construction services for clients in design, construction, construction management, and related fields. Mr. Dobbie is frequently asked to deliver presentations and speak before the continent’s leading construction industry trade associates, particularly in the areas of BIM and evolving design and construction processes and workflows.
Mr. Dobbie is widely considered one of the leading BIM thought leaders within the AEC industry. For the past decade Mr. Dobbie’s vision for Dowco has been a global IT enabled 3D construction modeling, detailing, pre-construction and BIM services company having the ability to mobilize cost effective project resources from around the world to collaborate in the ‘Project Cloud’ in real time.

Sanjay Prasad

Vice President, Special Projects, BIM Executive, Dowco Group

Over 3 decades in the Structural Steel Industry.
During his time at Dowco, Sanjay has worked as a structural steel detailer, checker, project manager, project coordinator, software sales, pre-construction services, BIM Manager, software developer, technical support and trainer. Since 1995, Sanjay has been heavily involved with the customization of connection macros for Tekla Structures (much of his development has been incorporated into Tekla’s global 3D modeling and detailing product configuration). For the past several years, Sanjay has been responsible for the development and implementation of Dowco’s “BIM and VDC” processes for use in detailing operations, as well as custom applications for customers.

Steven Carter

Steve started at Dawn in 1990 and has hands-on experience with tilt up construction, steel stud and drywall installation, and all levels of general contracting. Steve became co-owner and later president of Dawn in the early 2000s. Dawn Construction has maintained a steel stud and drywall division, as part of the core company and as an affiliate (Dawn Installations). With a solid reputation and strategic relationships in the industry, Steve has helped Dawn become a full tenant improvement general contractor who is pre-approved for work on a number of major institutions and chains.

Ali Tabatabaei

Project Manager

As an experienced Project Manager and Architect, Ali manages all aspects of the contract from feasibility study to closeouts to ensure a seamless transition to owner occupancy.He is also the liaison with consultants and professionals, clients, general contractors and sub- contractors. Ali works effectively with multiple stakeholders to ensure all requirements of the contract are met prior to substantial performance.

Ali is always focused on his client’s requirements and will strive to meet all objectives regarding budget, schedule, and quality.

Helena Veikle

Project Manager

Helena’s previous project management experience is derived from her more than 10 years working at Dowco Consultants Ltd in the steel construction industry. Equipped with multiple skill sets in project management, technical and administrative skills, her proficient use of 3D modelling tools, and construction technology allows her to manage a wider variety of tasks.

Helena’s goal is to deliver projects on time at the best quality and within the budget.

Ravi Prasad Kandaswamy

Ravi Prasad is a Construction engineering and management professional with a master’s degree from Concordia University. He assists the senior estimator in the solicitation of trades regarding bid invitations, pricing, addenda, and tender/bid closings. He reviews drawings & specifications to determine the scope of work and project requirements.

He has a broad skill set supporting both estimating and project management teams as needed to ensure smooth transition of projects from estimating to construction.

Nadine Gibb

Senior Estimator

As a construction professional with over twelve years of estimating experience, Nadine has worked on a multitude of project types, both in cost planning and tendering. Construction has always been the focus of her studies, progressing from drafting in secondary school to earning a Drafting Certificate from Vancouver Community College, and on to BCIT’s Building Technology Economics Diploma Program.

Nadine came on as an estimator for Dawn after having worked extensively as a quantity surveyor. She prepares all tender packages and estimates for projects. She co-ordinates all trades required for the process and compiles quotes to ensure a complete and accurate submission. She maintains relationships with all trades and suppliers, and can liaise with owners, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors to ensure all items are covered and potential supply problems can be addressed ahead of project commencement.

Ken Nielsen

Site Supervisor

As one of Dawn’s Site Supervisors, Ken oversees on-site aspects of projects in conjunction with our trade partners. He is responsible for site staff and site labor. Ken has an extensive understanding of the work involved with projects including estimating, budgets, scheduling and closeouts. His vast range of skills and experience has given him the tools to be a key asset to projects of all sizes and complexities.

Ken believes in team collaboration and will serve as a leader in all areas related to construction. His hands-on approach and seasoned construction knowledge aid in drawing review, budgeting and scheduling during the pre-construction phase. His proactive approach and extensive knowledge of all aspects of construction have proven critical to the execution and delivery of successful projects.
